I wrote scripts for BBC1’s DOCTORS from its second series until its last. With over 100 episodes broadcast I clearly never run out of ideas… nor enthusiasm. I know how to find stories and how to make them work for any audience.
Any organisation with a story to tell can talk to me about telling it. I know that short stories can be magical devices and creative seeds.
I pride myself on never, ever having missed a deadline.
For national broadcasters and independent companies I help develop ideas for drama and comedy and write scripts for television, film, theatre and radio.
As a tutor and speaker I deliver insights into surviving and thriving in the world of a freelance writer. I aim to guide and encourage without being a know-it-all pain.
I am an advocate for the under-represented across the arts and continually delight in finding creative ways for everybody to participate, enjoy and be recognised.
That said, I am not a saint…
What other people have been kind enough to say about me
“Claire Bennett? My arse!”
Ricky Thomlinson
“Claire is a boost to any team and a pleasure to work with. Her positivity and imagination are epic.”
Peter Eryl Lloyd, Series Producer, BBC
“Claire’s writing is exceptional. She can create humour, pathos, sadness and most of all she can tell stories which capture the essence of the situation in which her characters live their lives.”
Dorothy Hobson, Fellow of the Royal Television Society, Writer/Lecturer/Television and Cultural Historian
